William Edward Burghardt "W. E. B." DuBois was an American sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, author, writer and editor. Web Dubious believed that you should "noblesse oblige" in order to respect those around you while maintaining self pride. his claim applies to many peoples lives because for example you have a job or go to college you have nobleese oblige to whoever is mentoring or supervising.its good to noblesse oblige because it teaches you to pick your battles wisely, so when you do speak the truth you are more likely to be heard and respected.
In life we are taught to respect those around us especially those superior to us and at times in can cost us our dignity. Web Dubious enlightens us on how how to differentiate the times when we should and shouldn't stand up for ourselves and or something we believe in. At times we have to evaluate whether whats really at stake, our ego or something bigger then just ourselves. This is a very important lesson to learn considering most are very self-centered and will make a fool or endanger ourselves over an unworthy cause.
Sometimes making your voice heard can cause a revolution such as Cesar Chavez, Martin Luther king or making a stand like Rosa parks. These courageous people are the reason we are all able to be the unified and diverse world we are today, and if it wasn't for their outspoken bravery we would all still be divided. They didn't noblesse oblige but they all made their impact strategically so that their message was heard. For that the world was never the same for the better.
My whole life I've always learned to pick my battles with my mom because I know whatever I say rather its valid or not will just make her more mad and cause the punishment to be more severe. Modesty is sometimes a good policy but then again great things were never accomplished by staying on the safe side. You got to get out of your comfort zone and sometimes even make a few enemies in order to keep progress alive. That doesn't mean we should get carried away and use our voice to speak on things that don't hold great importance.
